Zachary Matthay, M.D. is a general surgery resident at UCSF. He received his Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Tufts University and received his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco in 2016. His research interests include platelet and coagulation biology, thromboembolism, and clinical outcomes research. During his research years, he studied the role of platelets in trauma induced coagulopathy in Dr. Lucy Kornblith's laboratory, and under the mentorship of Dr. James Iannuzzi he performed clinical outcomes research in vascular surgery including projects examining risk factors for post-operative major adverse cardiovascular events and venous thromboembolism. Dr. Matthay's primary clinical interest is in vascular surgery after completing is general surgery residency.
