Karen Trang, M.D. is currently a general surgery resident with the UCSF Department of Surgery. She obtained her B.S. in Biochemistry at Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga, where she was the recipient of the De La Salle award, the highest academic honor award. Following her undergraduate education, she performed basic/translational research in HIV/Immunology in the McCune Lab at UCSF. She subsequently obtained her M.D. Stanford University School of Medicine where she performed clinical research in Vascular Surgery under the medical scholars fellowship.

Dr. Trang has developed an interest in clinical informatics while undergoing her training at UCSF and is eager to work towards becoming a surgeon-informatician, as she concurrently completes the UCSF Clinical Informatics Fellowship.
