Jessica Thiesmeyer, MD is the clinical fellow in Endocrine Surgery. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences at Cornell University before attending medical school at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. There, she was honored to be inducted in to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She fulfilled her dream of moving to New York City and was trained as a general surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She had the privilege of serving as the Administrative Chief Resident of Education in her final year.

Jessica dedicated two years of her graduate medical training to Endocrine Surgical Oncology research under the mentorship of Dr. Thomas J. Fahey, III, Dr. Rasa Zarnegar, and Dr. Yariv Houvras. She became proficient in single cell embryo transfection with microinjection in order to effect precise genome editing of zebrafish using CRISPR/Cas9 and homology directed repair. She authored several clinical manuscripts and has presented her work at multiple national and international society meetings.

Jessica is pursuing subspecialty training in Endocrine Surgery because she has a keen interest in how hormonal processes affect the whole person and appreciates the meticulous craft of oncologic thyroid and adrenal resections. As an academic surgeon, she plans to continue to conduct research aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, allaying health care disparities in endocrine cancer care, and improving surgical residency education.
